Empties: October-December 2016 + Year End Review

Welcome to my final empties post of 2016, in 2017. I’m lazy and late, but it’s here, along with a year-end recap. I did some amazing things this year with my collection and used up a ton of old things. And I had some unexpected surprises! Also, apologies for no photo this time, I typed out my list nd then promptly threw them out before I remembered to take a picture. Whoopsies!

  1. L’Oreal EverPure Volume Conditioner: Can I get a round of applause for finishing off a conditioner? Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever done that with my short hair. I do love this, though I can’t say anything about how much it helps my colour last. WP
  2. Kazkaza Cleansing Wipe: I really liked these, but they were slightly too small for my liking and are 7$ CAD for 20 wipes. MP
  3. Marcelle Make-up removing cleansing cloths: I really liked these, but it’s just a touch too expensive for my liking. MP
  4. Garnier Fructis Color Shield Blonde Refresher: I haven’t been blonde for a long while now, but this works great on toning the brassiness of blonde hair and as a hair mask. If I ever went blonde again, which I will most likely never do, I would purchase this. MP
  5. Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion(sample): I really enjoyed this! I was pleasantly surprised since the only other one I had tried was annoying to use and did nothing, but I really like this. WP
  6. Celkin Collagen Make-up Remover Cleansing Wipes: I really liked these and the price was very nice! WP
  7. Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner(sample): The name confuses me too and so does the effects of it. Literally did nothing for my face, good or bad, and had a very strange texture. WNP
  8. Marc Jacob O!mega Lash Volumizing Mascara(sample): I liked it but it didn’t do enough for me on its own. WNP
  9. Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray Sample: Really like this though I’m not sure if it really keeps my makeup on longer, but I like it. WP
  10. Almay Clear Complexion Foundation: I love this, though it does settle into some of my wrinkles on my forehead and my smile line, but it lasts all day and keeps me matte. WP
  11. The Face Shop Chia Seed Moisturizing Toner(sample): Eh, didn’t do a darned thing. WNP
  12. The Face Shop Seaweeds Moisturizing Pack(sample): See above, literally the same. WNP
  13. Drybar Mai Tai Spritzer(sample): Love this to add texture, already got the full-size. WP
  14. Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil: I used to love this, but towards the end of the bottle I found it was not taking my makeup off as well as it once did. WNP
  15. Beauty Blender Cleanser: It was okay, but not a big fan. WNP
  16. Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser(sample): Hated this, used it for brushes. WNP
  17. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray: Liked it, but not enough to buy it again. WNP
  18. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair!(sample): It was okay, but not enough to pay money for it. WNP
  19. Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Wash and Rinse Shampoo and Conditioner(sample): I had such high hopes and they let me down. Gave no texture at all. WNP
  20. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: It was nice, but I prefer others over it. WNP
  21. Secret Kiss Oil-Free Lip and Eye Remover: It’s finally dead! This lasted forever, which is nice, but I’m ready to try something new. Also, it’s tastes terrible on the lips. WNP
  22. Dr.Jart+ Brightening Infusion Hydrogel Mask: Nice, but I don’t think it does enough to my face. MP
  23. Lise Watier Bio Lift Eye Patch: Literally did nothing. WNP
  24. Nivea Facial Cleansing Lotion(sample): I did like this, though I don’t know if it would work long term for my oily skin. MP
  25. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer(sample): Can’t remember it, so it must not be great for me. WNP
  26. Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder Foundation in 001 Light Porcelain: This was okay, but the colour was a little off and it did nothing to help with my oils. WNP
  27. La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+: Love this, HG. WP
  28. Beauty Blender: Love it, but it’s expensive. MP
  29. Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara: Love this, but it got clumpy towards the end. MP
  30. Clinique Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara: It lengthened and separated really well, but no volume. WNP
  31. Urban Decay Primer Potion(sample): I really like this! WP
  32. Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer in 125 Fair: I liked this but not enough to buy it again. Also, it would oxidise. Really weird. WNP
  33. Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair(sample): Felt nice, but I didn’t notice any big change. WNP
  34. The Estee Edit Dissolve The Drama 2-in-1 Makeup Rmover+Cleanser(sample): It worked, I prefer others. WNP
  35. Phyto Hydrating Day Cream(sample): It was nice, but not enough to buy it. WNP
  36. Skin Inc Hyaluronic Acid + Chlorella Serum(sample) x2: I hated these, slightly because they did nothing for my skin but also because it’s impossible to get the product out. WNP
  37. Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner(sample): It was nice, but made no difference. WNP
  38. Bioderma Sebium Mat Control(sample): I liked this, I might buy when I run out of the other million moisturisers I have. MP
  39. Clarins Shaping Facial Lift(sample): Didn’t like this. WNP
  40. Kat Von D Trooper Liner(sample) + Full size: Love the formula, but I’ve discovered the brown colour and prefer it for my looks. WNP
  41. Kat Von D Mad Max Brown Liner(sample): Love this, already got a full-size. WP
  42. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara(sample) x2: Favourite mascara. WP
  43. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer Custard: Wrong colour for me but the formula just isn’t for me. It was bad for under the eyes but it worked for the face. WNP
  44. L’Oreal Silkissime Black Liner: It was wonderful but just too creamy at first for my taste. WNP
  45. Essence Lip Liner 11 In The Nude: It was nice but I feel very meh on it. WNP
  46. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Precision Glide Lip Liner in Red Door Red: I’m glad I only paid 5$ for it and I definitely got my money’s worth since it lasted forever, but I prefer to spend as little as possible on lip liners, if I buy any at all. WNP
  47. Urban Decay Ozone Lip Liner: This is so old, it’s never worked for me, I’m done with it. WNP
  48. NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown: It was nice, but I find I prefer the triangular shaped pencils now. WNP

10 products are something I would purchase, 8 are products I might purchase and 30 are products I would not purchase at all.

And now let’s get into some serious number crunching!

Over the course of 2016, I finished a total of 176 products! Of those 176 products:

  • 7 makeup wipe bags
  • 103 samples
  • 46 makeup products
  • 11 pressed powder products

I am amazingly impressed with my results this year and can’t wait to see what my year-end wrap up for 2017 will look like. I am really happy with finishing 11 powder products(eyeshadows, bronzers) and would like to hit maybe 15 for 2017, but I think I might only make it to 10 this year. I have a lot of powder products in my project 100 pan but I’m not really expecting to finish them all this year but only time will tell. I am really happy that there has been a steady progression as to how much I’ve finished but well over half of them were samples and most of them were foil packets, but hey, those products are no longer cluttering up my vanity. Imagine if I still had all of them in there. It would be nuts!

I hope you guys liked this little wrap up for 2016, let me know what your empties were like for 2016 if you kept track.
